For the 20th consecutive year the South Dakota Value Added Agriculture Development Center kicked off the South Dakota State Fair in Huron. Executive Director Cheri Rath says vendors from 22 businesses and organizations showcased traditional and unique products. She says with the uncertainty in agriculture, there is increased interest in diversification.
The Center is also celebrating 20 years of incubating businesses that add value to the state’s raw commodities. Rath says that greatly adds to farmer’s profits.
Rath says over the 20 years they’ve helped create and expand businesses that have had overwhelming success.
Clients of the Center are in 57 of the state’s 66 counties.
