A Medicaid program to treat people with substance abuse will be expanded. The Rules Review Committee of the South Dakota Legislature approved a request from the Department of Social Service at their meeting this week.
Committee Member Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton says it follows a bill approved earlier this year….
Kennedy says the program would have some specific targets…..
Kennedy the changes are not a major expansion of Medicaid services……
Kennedy says there is general agreement that it will be cheaper to treat substance abuse than jail more offenders.
