The South Dakota Student Councils’ Fall Service Project is a statewide project that is decided every summer for schools, and this year, students completed a four day food drive. James Weaver is the Assistant Executive Director for the South Dakota High School Activities Association and says the project was a big success.

Thirty schools participated in the project this year and were able to collect over 30 thousand pounds of food, which the schools donated in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Weaver says Ethan school students even visited the food pantry to donate the food themselves and walked away with an even greater understanding of the need in their community. He says they will likely continue this project next year.
