Legislation calling for truth in meat labeling is expected to come up before a South Dakota State House committee sometime this week. South Dakota Stockgrower’s Association President Gary Deering says it’s a measure his group supports and is pushing for.

He says they’ve gathered support on the legislation from both producers and consumers.

Deering says it’s a pretty straightforward piece of legislation.

Deering says it’s important that consumers understand exactly what they’re getting and he’s hoping this legislation will clarify that.
