The South Dakota Stock Grower’s Association just wrapped up their 2021 convention and are now pursuing several issue goals for the coming year. Executive Director James Halverson says the day before they opened their convention they heard from Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds about their bill to reinstate Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling which their group wants to see approved.

He says they’re also working to oppose any efforts to mandate Radio Frequency Identification Tags for livestock, and will be pushing for state inspected meats to be able to be sold across state lines and will advocate private property rights for producers.

Halverson says they recognized their outgoing officers including President Scott Edoff and are welcoming in Vaughn Meyer or Reva as their new President as well as new Vice President Les Shaw of White Owl, and some new board members.

Halverson says President Meyer wants to get more members involved in the Association on serving on their committees.
