Despite COVID, South Dakota’s number one industry agriculture was still the focus of this year’s South Dakota State Fair in Huron. It was one of the few state fairs held in the country and while it looked a bit different, Assistant Manager Candi Briley says the 135-year tradition went on.
With South Dakota the only place offering livestock shows there was increased interest from out of state entries in the livestock breed show. Briley says the 4-H and FFA entries were also strong.
Briley says they did take special safety precautions to ensure the health of fairgoers and exhibitors.
While there were no big musical concerts, the South Dakota State Fair did offer a good lineup of entertainment including the bull bash and many free stages. The five-day fair ends on Labor Day.
