The South Dakota Railroad Board has unanimously approved Dakota Plains Ag Center’s (DPAC) request to connect to the Napa-Platte line at Napa Junction. The board took the 7-0 action at Wednesday’s regular meeting in Oacoma. Chair of the South Dakota Rail Board Todd Yeaton says at one point during the process Dakota Plains was pushed to look at a B-in main line switch and were even told the switch wouldn’t be needed, but that has now changed
Yeaton says Dakota Plains will be responsible to put the line in
The rail hub will serve farm land in Yankton, Bon Homme and Charles Mix counties, which now relies on truck transportation because of the lack of regular rail service. Yeaton says it’s time to get it done
