The West River Spring Wheat Crop is looking very good and getting close to being harvested while Winter Wheat is seeing some disease pressure. That’s according to SDSU Extension Plant Pathologist Bob Fanning.
Fanning says scab can cause real damage to wheat and also lead to producers getting docked at the elevator for their wheat if infestations are large enough.
Fanning says moisture and overall weather conditions this year have benefitted the spring wheat.
Fanning says he expects early harvestings to get going sometime next week in the Winner area.
