A South Dakota specialty producer is pleased with the June court ruling pulling the registration for dicamba and the recent decision that rejected the companies request for a rehearing. John Zuhlke runs Little Shire Farm in Aurora and was part of the original lawsuit against dicamba. He says EPA approved a product that wasn’t fully tested and the states went along.
Zuhlke has 350 varieties of fruits and vegetables, plus honey, and joined the lawsuit as a result of the extensive damage off target dicamba drift caused to his five-acre operation.
He says the tightened regulations for dicamba spraying such as cutoff dates are not decreasing the off-target drift.
Zuhlke says the companies selling dicamba products are fully responsible for the damage and he is hopeful no dicamba products will be re-registered by EPA for 2021.
