The South Dakota Soybean Association is holding their Annual Ag Outlook and Trade Show on Wednesday and Thursday in Sioux Falls. The Association’s annual business meeting takes place on Wednesday. President Jeff Thompson says they’ll be talking about challenges farmers have faced this year with the weather and trade tariffs and the depressed ag economy.
He says another producer worry is trade and hoping for resolution to the trade war with China. Thompson says due to ASF, China hasn’t needed as much soybean meal for feed so that’s been a major concern for soybean growers.
Thompson says while most soybean growers would rather get their income from trade rather than government payments, the market facilitation program payments have been somewhat helpful.
Thompson says they’re hoping for a good turnout for their annual meeting and Ag outlook.
