South Dakota senior Senator Tim Johnson made his farewell address to the Senate this morning. He will be retiring at the end of this, his third term in the Senate. First elected to the US House in 1986, Johnson said he has held firm to promise in that campaign.
Johnson also thanked the people of South Dakota.
Senator John Thune also spoke of working with Johnson during their time together in Congress.
Johnson and his wife Barb will split their time between Sioux Falls, and some warmer spots in the winter.
Republican Mike Rounds will be sworn into the Senate seat in January.
