In honor of the Memorial Day observance, South Dakota Senator John Thune made a floor speech recognizing the air aces of American military forces.
He says the fourteen hundred forty seven aces were all awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.
Thune says there was a great reminder with the Washington fly over of World War Two era planes on the seventieth anniversary of VE day.

Thune says another South Dakota native was a notable ace.

Thune also mentioned all the other aces from South Dakota.

Thune says they were ten heroic examples of the contributions made by South Dakota soldiers and airmen.
