State Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot was among a group of legislators that met with officials of the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington last week. He says they wanted to talk about details of the “Waters of the US” proposal that is still open to public comment.

The “Waters of the US” rules would detail which bodies of water need extra protection. Frerichs says they were told that states also have a role in protecting public waters.

Frerichs, who has been active in drainage issues in the legislature, says they didn’t get a lot of new information.
