The last Friday in September is the day that school districts across South Dakota count students, and use that number for their state aid funding.
Dr. Mark Froke, Superintendent for the Vermillion Public schools said they had some good news in their headcount.
Froke said they are seeing most of the increase in the lower grades.
Froke says there is some financial benefits in seeing those student numbers rise.
Froke says they have been able to adjust their staffing and class rooms for the additional students.
