School districts in South Dakota are doing the math now that they know what their state aid for next year will be.
The legislature gave districts a one percent ongoing increase, along with a point seven percent one time bump.
Kevin Kunz, Superintendent at Freeman Public, says while they are happy to see any increase, it will still be a tight year……
Kunz says districts are committed to teacher pay raises every year…..
Voters in the district approved a six hundred thousand dollar property tax opt out last summer.
Kunz says they will be able to use some of that in setting next years budget…..
The district has already made adjustments and staff cuts to stay within their budget.
