The State of South Dakota closed the books on the 2018 fiscal year with a seventeen million dollar surplus. That money was rolled over into the reserve fund.
House Majority Leader Lee Qualm of Platte says there will always be places to spend that money….
Qualm says it is a pretty tight margin in any case…..
Qualm says members of the Appropriations Committees did a very good job in writing the budget……
State officials will now carefully watch sales tax trends for the rest of the year.
