High schools students from around South Dakota will compete on Saturday to test their knowledge of all areas of science. The Regional Science Bowl will be held to determine which team will represent the state at the national competition in April. Mary Jo Bondy is the advisor for the group of students competing from Parker High School. She says the students must prepare for many different topics related to any field of science.

The students will compete in teams of four, answering questions in a trivia-like fashion to score points for their team. She says the students have put lots of effort into getting prepared for the competition.

The team that wins the regional competition will compete in Washington DC for prizes such as trips to national parks across the country and supplies for their school. There are nine teams registered to compete in Huron on Saturday.
