The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has denied a request from the Yankton Sioux Tribe to dismiss the Keystone XL pipeline re-certification application. Lawyers for the tribe said the application has changed from the original filed over four years ago, and should not be continued.

Commissioner Gary Hanson says the denial motion was premature…

Hanson says they need to go through the process to find out if anything has changed…

Commissioner Chris Nelson says they need to let the process play out…

The Commission has set several days of hearings in May on the certification process. The pipeline would enter the state in the northwest corner, and exit in the south central part of the state.
