European Union trade officials are hoping for a quick trade deal with the United States by around March 18. However, that’s not likely according to the National Pork Producers Council. South Dakota Pork Producer Council President Craig Andersen agrees with NPPC that some type of comprehensive trade pact is needed that addresses all market barrier issues with the E.U.

He says its positive the Trump administration is working on several possible bilateral trade agreements, whether it be the E.U., India or the United Kingdom. Andersen says the most critical stumbling block with the E.U. .is getting them to lift non-tariff barriers and allow market access.T Cut 26 Andersen Bmdnb q. that they’re making into the issues..:23 Seconds
Andersen says U.S. pork producers are dependent on trade in order to thrive economically.

Andersen agrees with NPPC in that barrier issues like protectionism need to be addressed with the E.U. in order to get a good trade deal that also includes agriculture.
