South Dakota pork producer council members will be holding their 2021 Pork Congress in Sioux Falls and Wednesday and Thursday January 13 and 14. SDPPC President Craig Andersen says one of their primary discussions will be about foreign animal diseases and the COVID 19 effects.

He says economist Steve Meyer will be speaking during the Congress and updated training will be given for both Pork Quality and Transportation Quality Assurance programs.

Andersen says they’ll be hearing about the Governor’s plan to merge the State Department of Agriculture with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. He says they’ll likely take a neutral position on that.

Andersen of Centerville will finish his term as President at the meeting and the new President will be Shane Odegaard of Lake Preston.
