South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard says the state continues to work with the Indian Health Service in an attempt to extend services and cut Medicaid costs.

He says there soon may be state workers at IHS facilities…

The state has been picking up costs of native Americans that are eligible for Medicaid, but not able to be treated at an IHS facility.

Daugaard says more costs could be covered with those referrals…..

Daugaard says it has been a slow moving process…

Medicaid cost almost nine hundred million dollars in 2017, of that, the state picked up about three hundred eighty million dollars.
