The South Dakota legislature has voted to overturn one bill that was vetoed by Governor Dennis Daugaard.
The Senate voted thirty one to one, then the House voted sixty three to one to pass SB136, a bill that would have changed the way electric service from a rural cooperative to a member in a city is taxed.
Representative Al Novstrup of Aberdeen was an original sponsor of the bill.
Novstrup said the tax has been on the books for quite a while, and didn’t need to be changed.
Representative Thomas Brunner of Nisland says the bill continues a process that has worked.
Two other bills had vetoes sustained in the Senate. Those were SB 100 and SB 159.
