An interim committee of the South Dakota legislature will have some bills dealing with special education for the 2019 session, but the study may also continue into the following year.

Senator Jim Bolin of Canton was a member of that committee and says they need more information on the growth in special education students and services….

Bolin says they need a broad based group to continue the study…

Bolin says the state also had to deal with federal regulations…..

The number of students needed special education has been rising faster than the overall growth in enrollment over the past few years.
