While no formal studies have been scheduled, South Dakota lawmakers continue to talk about sales tax exemptions.

The state may have as much as one billion dollars in current exemptions.

Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton says it is difficult to find a majority of legislators that want to talk about it…..

Stevens says some of the exemptions date back to the 1940s…….

Stevens says turnover in the legislature also contributes to the lack of any study…..

Stevens, and Senator Craig Kennedy spoke to the American Legion Auxiliary in Yankton Monday night.
