South Dakota Legislators Start Mental Health Access Discussion

The “Access to Mental Health Services” committee of the South Dakota legislature held their first meeting of the summer last week.

Senator Craig Kennedy of Yankton says they got an overview of the current state of mental health services….

Kennedy says there was a 2015 report that pointed out some of the shortages of services……

Kennedy says the shortages are worst in small towns and rural areas.

He says this meeting sets the stage for more in depth discussion…….

Kennedy says they will hold a two day meeting in early August in Yankton and Sioux Falls.
