South Dakota Legislative Committee Hears from Administrators on Special Education

Legislators serving on the “Extraordinary Cost Fund for Special Education” committee heard from school officials at their meeting in Pierre this week. The committee is looking at the numbers of students, and the costs involved in local districts providing those extra educational programs.

Rhonda Frederick, the Special Education Director at the McLaughlin School district says they have a hard time finding any staff……

The committee directed staff to come up with some possible legislation dealing with special education funding for their next meeting later this fall.
