A federal report said more than a quarter million new jobs were added across the country in October adding to the squeeze on companies looking for workers.

South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation Secretary Marcia Hultman says the state’s unemployment rate has been very low for months..

The labor department reports over fifty three thousand people are available for new jobs, but Hultman says most of them currently have jobs….

Hultman says the state has a number of programs underway to help expand the labor supply with mixed results…

By county, the state’s unemployment rate ranges from two percent in McCook County, to ten-point one percent in Oglala Lakota County.
