A bill that would have prohibited the South Dakota Department of Transportation from making a number of changes to Highway 50 in Bon Homme County was heard before the House Transportation Committee.

Bill backer, former legislator Frank Kloucek of Scotland says the bill would keep the highway as it is, and slow down traffic….

Transportation Department Secretary Darin Bergquist says the legislature is not the place to decide these issues…..

Committee Chair, Representative Mary Duvall of Pierre says there is a lot of time before these changes are made….

A do pass recommendation was defeated on a four to eight vote, then the bill was sent to the forty first day on an eight to four vote.
