The South Dakota Highway Patrol is holding women’s recruiting seminars across the state this month.

Spokesman Tony Mangan says 5 of 185 officers in the South Dakota Highway patrol are women, fewer than 3 percent. Two women are currently in training. Mangan says the seminars aim is to encourage more women to join.

The next seminar is in Sioux Falls on Tuesday at 6.pm. at Southeast Technical Institute. People interested can stop by any time during the two hour forum.

Sessions will also be held Thursday in Pierre and on the 21st in Aberdeen.

The Highway Patrol is accepting applications for the next 15 to 20 recruits until July 8.
