Thirty-nine more South Dakota soldiers will be headed overseas. The National Guard’s 196th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade from Sioux Falls will be deployed in late February. Major Anthony Deiss says the unit will be supporting Operation Enduring Freedom-Spartan Shield in Kuwait.

Diess says there is another unit headed to the Middle East for engineering support and six more soldiers already there.

He says the South Dakota National Guard will continue to prepare soldiers for any possible deployments in order to fight extremists.
