The South Dakota Grasslands Coalition is hosting several low stress livestock handling workshops this week across the state. The first was held in Sturgis on Monday with the second one today in Belvidere. Coalition’s Education Specialist Dan Rasmussen says consulting Veterinarian Dr. Tom Noffsinger who specializes in low stress livestock handling is the main speaker at these workshops.

He says one of the highlights Noffsinger will share with producers is weaning techniques that will help producers maintain high daily gains.

Rasmussen says Noffsinger’s aim is to help livestock producers be more profitable.

Workshops are set for today in Belvidere, September 23 in Akaska, September 24 in Crooks and Friday September 25 in Yankton at the Rivers Edge Restaurant. Each event begins at nine a.m. There is no RSVP required.
