South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard welcomed Bel Brands USA to Brookings during Friday’s grand opening. He says the entire region will feel the economic impact of the $144 million plant which has the production capacity of approximately 1.5 million Mini Babybel products daily.

He says the processing industry is strong along the I-29 Corridor but will continue to grow with the increased cow numbers they are recruiting to the state. Bel Brands already has expansion plans in the works.

The Governor says they fought hard to bring the plant to South Dakota and won the company over with the state’s friendly business environment.
