A pair of South Dakota FFAers have been named finalists for the National FFA Convention this year. Cole Schock of McCook Central is an American Star in Agricultural Placement Finalist and Hunter Eide (eye-dee) of Gettysburg is a proficiency finalist in the Agriscience Research Animal Systems area. South Dakota FFA Foundation Director Gerri Eide says four finalists were named in each of those categories and the winners will be announced during the National Convention.
Because the convention is being held virtually, instead of in person interviews the finalists each submitted video presentations from which they’ll be judged. Eide says Hunter’s project involved aquaculture.
She says Cole’s project involved dairy and artificial insemination.
Eide says in addition there are 20 South Dakota FFAers that qualified as finalists in agri-science out of 36 total that were eligible. The winners in those categories will be announced during the virtual convention which runs from October 27 to the 29th.
