28 South Dakota Farmers Union members are heading to Washington DC next week for the National Farmers Union’s Fly In. President Doug Sombke says there are many concerns in farm country including the need for a new farm bill with a strong safety net, enhanced renewable fuel volumes and fixes for rural health care.
He says tweaks to crop insurance need to be made in the next farm bill that will help farmers hurt by low commodity prices.
Sombke says one of the keys to improving rural health care is more support for Medicare.
NFU’s Legislative Fly In runs from September 10 through the 13.
