A group of around 50 South Dakota farmers met with EPA administrator Scott Pruitt in Reliance on Wednesday. The meeting was closed to the media although one newspaper reporter was allowed in. Miller area farmer David Fremark attended the meeting. He says Pruitt doesn’t understand the devastation he’s causing to the RFS and the corn market by his granting of RINS waivers to several oil refineries

Fremark says he and other farmers attending the meeting are concerned there are more waivers actually being granted. He also says they tried to tell the administrator corn prices are being hurt severely by these waivers.

He says Administrator Pruitt is not a friend of agriculture and is philosophically opposed to the RFS.

Fremark says there are over 12,000 South Dakotans invested in ethanol plants and if the EPA head is going to dismantle the RFS, South Dakotans are going to fight him.
