The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration are holding a joint meeting today and tomorrow in Washington D.C. to hear concerns about the labeling of cell cultured or lab grown meat. Gregory, South Dakota cattleman Brett Kensey is speaking to the agencies representing the South Dakota Farmers Union. He says whatever labeling rules the agencies come up with must be truthful.

He says its critical consumers aren’t confused by the labeling of any products.

Kensey says the government must also be transparent with both producers and consumers as they craft any labeling rules.

Kensey says the organization does not oppose new technology like cell cultured meat but wants to make sure the labels are accurate.
