Harrisburg, South Dakota farmer Greg Slack has filed a lawsuit in Lincoln County court against Energy Transfer Partners, builders of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Slack’s Attorney Glenn Boomsma of Sioux Falls says they’re court complaint outlines a wide range of damages and the failure of the company to restore land and drain tiles to their original condition after the pipeline was installed.
He says five of Slack’s drain tiles were disconnected when the company put in the pipeline. None of those were restored and that’s created a host of problems.
Boomsma isn’t sure if state legislation would protect farmers like Slack, but he thinks others have had similar experiences with the pipeline.
Boomsma says Slack tried talking to Energy Transfer Company officials over a year ago and has received no response. A phone call to Energy Transfer Partners for comment was never returned.
