Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue visited South Dakota on Thursday stopping at the POET ethanol plant near Chancellor and also was at the Dave Poppen’s farm near Lennox. Poppens say the Secretary assured he and his fellow farmers that the President is taking the right direction in seeking several trade agreements rather than just concentrating on one large market, that being China.

Poppens says Perdue told them the farm bill needs to get done this year and he’s asking Congress to complete that.

Poppens says South Dakota agriculture was well represented at his farm during the Secretary’s visit and had a chance to talk to him about several of their concerns.

At a stop at the Chancellor POET ethanol plant earlier Perdue says he expects rule making to allow year round sales of E15 to be ready in time for the 2019 summer driving season.
