South Dakota Farm Leader Opposes EPA GGH Rule

South Dakota Farm Bureau leaders are concerned about a proposed EPA rule on greenhouse gases from power plants. The comment period ends December 1 on that proposal. Farm Bureau President Scott Vanderwal says if it’s allowed to go into effect would raise costs significantly for all electrical customers and hit agriculture and non agriculture interests alike.
Vanderwal says the rule would have little effect on the climate and the economic costs would be astronomical.
Vanderwal says EPA got the go ahead to proceed with the rule following a memorandum issued by President Obama in 2013 to reduce emissions from power plants.
