Congress returns next week from its fall recess and is expected to take up tax reform legislation. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says that’s one of his group’s priorities. He expects action on the tax reform measure after they pass a budget.
He agrees with Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue that having the elimination of the estate tax in the reform measure is needed.
VanderWal is hopeful lawmakers will approve a tax reform bill and get it to the President by the end of the year.
VanderWal says Congress needs to come together in order to get legislation approved and avoid what he calls the total paralysis they’ve been under.
