Last week a group of South Dakota Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Rancher members were in the nation’s capital meeting with the state’s Congressional delegation and officials at the USDA. Young Farmer and Rancher Chairman Chad Hanrahan says they talked with lawmakers about the dire ag economy and the need for a solid farm bill to help provide a safety net.

He says they also carried their message about the importance of the Trans Pacific Partnership, as well as regulatory concerns.

Hanrahan says they also were able to weigh in with the USDA about EPA’s review of Atrazine.

South Dakota’s young farmer and rancher team making the visit included Chad and Kathy Hanrahan and three other couples.
