South Dakota Farm Bureau Welcomes Comments on China Tariffs

The South Dakota Farm Bureau is encouraging farmers and consumers to submit comments to the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office opposing the proposed import tariffs by China on U.S. goods. Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says they want those comments submitted to their website.

He’s hoping their comments will lead the administration to take a different stance on trade and go to the negotiating table to solve trade concerns.

VanderWal says in a trade war, all countries end up losing including both farmers and consumers.

The deadline to submit comments is May 11, 2018. After the comment period closes the administration has up to 180 days for a final decision.
