Legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Senate to permanently repeal the estate tax. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says his group supports the Death Tax Repeal Act of 2017 which is an important measure for farmers and ranchers.

He says those producers who have to pay that tax are hit severely.

VanderWal says they have a good chance to get the bill passed especially with President Trump in office and a new Congress in place.

Besides the support of Congresswoman Kristi Noem and Senator John Thune, the Death Tax Repeal Act is co sponsored by Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, member of the Finance committee which has jurisdiction over taxes.
