South Dakota House members this week defeated a measure that would have called for a study on all sales tax exemptions. The State Farm Bureau opposed the measure. Lobbyist Mike Held was pleased the legislation was defeated but says the amount of votes it got for approval is concerning.
He says had the studied been approved it could have caused problems for agriculture.
Held says the exemptions agriculture receives aren’t really a gift or a perk.
Held says the issues has been studied many times in the past and never resulted in any major movement on removing those.
