South Dakota Farm Bureau Opposing Bill To Study Tax Exemptions

South Dakota Farm Bureau Opposing Bill To Study Tax Exemptions

Last week, a South Dakota House panel passed out of committee and sent to the floor legislation to study tax exemptions. South Dakota Farm Bureau lobbyist Mike Held says this isn’t the first time that issue has been studied.

He says close to half of those exemptions impact agriculture.

Held says his group is concerned lawmakers want to review those exemptions because it could lead to those being lost for farmers and ranchers. He says they can’t afford that at this time.

Held says the study measure narrowly made it out of the House tax committee.
