Over the weekend the Trump Administration forged a new North American Free Trade Agreement bringing Canada into a deal with the U.S. and Mexico. It’s now called the US Mexican Canadian Free Trade Agreement. South Dakota Dairy Producers Association President Marv Post says the U.S. gained dairy market access in Canada with the elimination of Canada’s Class 7 dairy pricing policy.
He says the new agreement levels the playing field for the U.S. ,Canada and Mexico.
Post says both Canada and the U.S. were able to work out a compromise that led to the final agreement.
In a joint statement, U.S. Trade Representative Robert LIghthizer and Canada’s Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said the revamped NAFTA will strengthen the middle class and create good well paying jobs and new opportunities for the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
