A former Transportation Department Secretary under President Reagan says the US air traffic control system has to be updated.
James Burnley was recently in the state, talking about the benefits to South Dakota of an updated control system.

He says the current system can’t be easily updated……

Burnley says rural states like South Dakota could be left further behind…..

Burnley says general aviation would not pay anymore under the new system…..

Burnley says the plan has bipartisan support in Congress, and needs a kick from the public to keep it moving.
