The South Dakota legislature begins its 2017 session on January 10. State Corn Grower’s Legislative and Marketing Director Teddi Mueller says legislation they will be monitoring includes the Governor’s Buffer Strip Bill and proposed measures that will be released from the River Basin Task Force.

She says South Dakota Corn supports the Governor’s new buffer strip legislation as there are many improvements and so they will work for its passage.

Mueller says, however, they are not backing any of the recommendations of the River Basin Natural Resource District Oversight Advisory Task Force, as those measures go beyond what was originally intended with the plan.

Mueller says they’ll also monitor any tax or spending measures that surface during the session.
