The South Dakota Corn Growers Association held their annual meeting over the weekend virtually. It featured a water panel discussion and looked at what might be expected for regulations or direction under the new administration. Lara Moody, Vice President of Stewardship & Sustainability at The Fertilizer Institute expects work on climate change and agriculture will be central to that.

She says that may include funding for voluntary practices that improve soil health and greenhouse gas emissions, plus a carbon trading system.

Moody says the Biden administration is also poised to increase agricultural research to improve the environment in the future.

The panel also looked at the role of nutrient management in water quality, drainage law and an update from NRCS.
