South Dakota Corn Grower’s Association Leaders are pleased with Senate approval of the farm bill.  Executive Director Lisa Richardson says they’re happy direct payments are now eliminated and that crop insurance has been strengthened. She says producers will have choices to make when they sign up.

Richardson says the  key to finally getting the farm bill passed was the ability of Congressional leaders to come together.

Richardson says other positive components of the farm bill included the consolidating of conservation programs, the inclusion of the sod save provision and attaching conservation compliance to federal crop insurance.
